TrinityCountyis located in the pine forests of East Texas, and lies between the historic
Neches and TrinityRivers.Named for the Trinity River, it was created
from HoustonCounty in 1850.Historically, the economy of the area was
based on timber production.However,
with the completion of the Trinity River Authority?s 90,000-acre LakeLivingstonin the early 1970?s, tourism and outdoor recreation have become vital
industries.
TrinityCounty offers great recreation for the
entire family, fishing, resorts, golfing, camping, RV facilities, hunting, and
shopping at local antique stores.
TrinityCounty has two municipalities.Groveton is located near the county?s
geographic center and is the county seat.Trinity is situated on LakeLivingston?s TrinityPeninsula.Other communities include Apple Springs, Centralia, Friday, Glendale,
Pennington, Sebastopol and Woodlake.
